JOYCE SWIMMING POOLS
CONSTRUCTION
The construction of a concrete swimming pool is not a simple matter. Requiring experience with steel reinforced concrete and an understanding of the vast amount of stress placed upon the concrete by the weight of the water contained within. Incorrectly built swimming pools are prone to leaking from cracks in the pool construction created under the stress of the mass of water it is retaining.
There are a many slightly difference options for construction but all of the utilize the strength and durability of steel reinforced concrete.
CONCRETE BLOCK
A concrete block construction swimming pool is the standard method for constructing the majority of outdoor swimming pools. They are the lowest cost option for a concrete in ground swimming pool.
GUNITE/SHOTCRETE
Using a high pressure air pump concrete is sprayed against a timber frame work to form the concrete pool shell. The concrete encases and bonds to a steel reinforcing mesh creating and incredibly hard and strong reinforced concrete pool shell. Gunite/Shotcrete shells are structurally stronger, more resistant to water and less prone to minor cracking than traditional concrete block shells. They can be designed and specified to be structural to become an integral load bearing wall for a structure or partly exposed on a hillside, for example, to create a truly breathtaking infinity edge pool.
